Volcanic Brewing is a small family-owned Brewery in Toowoomba Queensland. We are seeking a passionate, motivated and experienced Head Brewer to lead our brewing operations. This is an awesome chance for an experienced brewer to take a bit more ownership (and glory!) instead of just being in a production line. In a relatively small brewery with a solid following and plenty of room for growth, as the Head Brewer you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our brewing process, from recipe development to production and quality control. This is a top-to-bottom, hands-on role that requires a production-oriented mindset, exceptional organisational skills, and a keen eye for detail. - Brewing Operations:
- Manage and execute all stages of the brewing process, from recipe development to packaging, ensuring consistent quality.
- Monitor and maintain all brewing equipment, ensuring proper functionality and maintenance schedules.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and safety in the brewing process.
- Managing and operating our Canning Machine
- Recipe Development:
- Create and innovate new beer recipes that align with market trends and customer preferences.
- Collaborate with the management team to plan seasonal and specialty beer releases.
- Maintain detailed records of all recipes and brewing processes for consistency.
- Supply Management:
- Oversee inventory, including raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder supplies as necessary to meet production demand.
- Foster and grow key relationships with suppliers.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant food regulations, health, and safety standards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect employees and equipment.
- Customer & Brand Engagement:
- Engage with customers and participate in tastings and events to promote the brewery and its products.
- Respond to customer feedback and adapt brewing processes as necessary to meet customer preferences.
- Experience in a professional brewing environment.
- Strong knowledge of brewing science, including recipe development, yeast management and quality control.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Proficient in using brewing software and other relevant tools to track and analyse brewing data.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may arise during the brewing process.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with the team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and production demands.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Manual Labour, this is a manual job that will require heavy lifting.
