Burleigh's Black Giraffe

As the mercury plummets in Queensland, Gold Coast-based Burleigh Brewing is about to release its second bottling of its highly regarded Black Giraffe coffee lager.

This year brewmaster Brennan Fielding will be using a different coffee. While still specially roasted by Zarraffas Coffee, the brewery advises this year’s roast has a more intense mocha characteristic.

“As always with our special brews, the guys are tweaking things here and there as well, so while it will be the same beer, it will have its own 2012 twist,” they advise.

The Initial launch will be at the Brewhouse Bar on Friday 13th July. It will be coming straight off the bottling line with the first 20 cartons made available to the first 20 people to arrive at 1pm on the day. Each of those cartons will have a ‘brewer’s dozen’ of 13 bottes instead of the usual 12. Cartons will be $100 and cleverly they will come with a sample 100g bag of the coffee that’s used in the brew allowing beer and coffee lovers to drink one beside the other and get a sense of how all the flavours work.

The bar will also be open, so even if you miss the first cartons you will be being able to buy a beer at the bar and enjoy a drink.

The remaining cartons will be shipped out to outlets nationally.
