New Beers Wrap
Otherside Brewing Co ‘Scotch Ale’ barrel-aged release
Otherside Brewing Co has released its first barrel-aged beer as part of its Experimental Series. A Scotch Ale, the new brew has been barrel-aged in bourbon and rye barrels from Woodford Reserve and Heaven Hill distilleries.
“It has a balanced bourbon character, it’s present but it’s not overpowering, so it has come out smooth and drinkable. There’s a bit of kettle hop presence, but the bitterness should relax over time and enable it to age gracefully,” Otherside brewer Rhys Lopez said.
The Scotch Ale is a “seriously-limited” east coast can release, on tap exclusively at Otherside Brewhouse in Myaree. At 8.2% ABV and 30 IBU, this beer tastes of biscuit and dried fruit, with a hint of chocolate and maltiness. With minimal bitterness, this brew exhibits warming flavours of toffee and bourbon.
Mornington Peninsula Collaboration ‘Orange Blossom Honey Kolsch’
Brewed at Dainton Beer, and on tap and available in cans, this delicious taste of the Mornington Peninsula has been created by the local brewers to be enjoyed this summer and features the local honey by Pure Peninsula Honey.
The breweries that took part in this brew include: Jetty Road Brewery, Mornington peninsula brewery, Dainton Beer, Red Hill Brewery, Hickinbotham of Dromana, Mr.Banks Brewing Co and St Andrews Beach Brewery.
To celebrate this collaboration, Dainton Beer is hosting a launch party on December 20 at 5pm.
Slipstream Brewing Company ‘White IPA’
Available from today at its cellar door, Slipstream Brewing Co has launched a White IPA.
The brewery has used both malted and unmalted wheat give a slightly lighter body to this American-style IPA. This, the brewery said, has left more room for the hops to come forward across the pallet.
Slipstream White IPA will be available in stores and pouring on taps around southeast Queensland from December 19.
