This week(while he was still allowed) Pete snuck into Hard Road Brewing and pulled up a socially-distanced barstool with co-founders Brad Merritt and Lein Jenkins.

The brewery is 25 kms from the Melbourne CBD in Bayswater which is fast becoming a destination for beer lovers along with neighbours Killer Sprocket, Project Brewing, Beach Hut That Little Brewery and even a couple of distilleries.

Set in an industrial estate but blessed with a gorgeous, open, clean-canvas-style space, Hard Road is using the government-enforced ‘downtime’ to make some interior alterations to compliment the existing bar and growler refill station already established. A large roller door entry allows food truck parking in cooler weather and also means a light, open and airy space when the summer heat kicks in.

Hard Road is the co-project of two ex-pat Californians (well, as you’ll hear one and a half Californians and an Aussie partner) each of whom had their own respective breweries up and running but then hit upon the brainwave of combining their talents and resources to create something bigger and better.
