New Beer Releases: July

The latest beer and beverage releases from Australian and New Zealand breweries for July 2020.


July 31st


Popcornucopia, Off the Wagon Wheel and Rock Paper Scissors | Bright Brewery

Bright Brewery has announced three new releases for this Friday (July 31st) starting with its 2020 GABS beer, the Popcornucopia salted caramel popcorn ale.

At 6.0% abv and brewed with air-popped popcorn, sea salt and caramel, the amber ale has been inspired by the new norm of Netflix and Stan movie marathons that have come about as a result of lockdowns.

While the GABS Festival has had to be postponed, Popcornucopia will still be released as part of the popular 2020 GABS Mixed 6-pack which also features releases from Your Mates, Modus Operandi, Big Shed, One Drop and Hope Brewery.

Bright’s second release is the 5.8% abv Off the Wagon Wheel chocolate porter, brewed with Super Pride and Columbus hops as well as chocolate malt, vanilla bean, raspberry puree and roasted coconut. Originally released a part of the 2019 GABS Festival, Off the Wagon Wheel is making a return.

The final new release features three collectable and playable designs. The Rock Paper Scissors NEIPA (6.2% abv) is brewed with Amarillo, Mosaic, Galaxy and newly released Lotus hops, giving it juicy orange and tropical fruit aromas with a creamy vanilla finish.


Coup De Grâce | Ballistic Beer Co.

Queensland’s Ballistic Beer Co. has announced its first barrel-aged beer with the Coup De Grâce Barrel Aged Imperial Stout.

Having been matured in American oak ex-rum barrels for six months then cold conditioned for a further six months, the 13.9% abv Coup De Grâce has flavours of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, burnt caramel, dried fruits and sherry.

Coup De Grâce Barrel Aged Imperial Stout is a very limited release, with only 2,200 bottled produced. As such, it is only available at independent bottleshops and Ballistic bars in Salisbury, Springfield and West End.


Cherry Smash | Stomping Ground Brewing Co.

Following the success of its first nitro beer, Stomping Ground Brewing Co. is releasing a new Nitro sour beer as part of the brewery’s Smash series.

The Cherry Smash nitro sour (4.2% abv) is available online, from the Stomping Ground Beer Hall or bottleshops.


2019 Sullivans Cove Whiskey Aged Cider | Willie Smith’s Cider Makers

In a new Tasmanian collaboration, Willie Smith’s has used its bitter-sweet Yarlington Mill heritage cider apple to make the cider, then aged it for six months in Sullivans Cove’s American Oak casks.

The Whiskey Aged Cider is available online or from Willie Smith’s Apple Shed and the Sullivans Cove Distillery, as well as bottleships, bars and restaurants Australia-wide.


Dolcé Noir and Wherever I Rove | White Bay Beer Co.

Sydney’s White Bay Beer Co. has announced its new 9.0% abv chocolate stout, Dolcé Noir. Available from Friday, the stout is brewed with dark and specialty malts, roasted hazelnuts, New Guinean vanilla beans and lactose sugars.

 

 

White Bay has also announced its new Wherever I Rove IPA (6.0% abv), brewed with flaked oats, and Mosaic and Lemondrop hops to give it passionfruit, mixed berry and limoncello flavours.

Both new beers are available online and from the Brewery Door on Friday, and from bottleshops on Monday.


Sticky Date Stout | Bad Shepherd Brewing Co.

Victoria’s Bad Shepherd Brewing Co. has released the eleventh beer in its Brew Crew series.

Created by Bad Shepherd’s Jas, who has been behind the bar, in the brewery, in the warehouse and on the road delivering beer to Melbourne, the Sticky Date Stout (7.5% abv) is a dessert beer with flavours of butterscotch caramel and vanilla.


Lark Barrel Aged Imperial Johnny Smoke Porter | Wolf of the Willows

Melbourne’s Wolf of the Willows has announced the third version of its #barrelexchangeproject, together with Lark Distillery.

The collaboration has resulted in the 2020 release of the Lark Barrel Aged Imperial Johnny Smoke Porter (12.8% abv).

The brew was aged in 100L Lark barrels for around 9 months, giving the Imperial Smoke Porter whisky barrel aged flavour of vanilla, oak, peat, dark chocolate, molasses, truffles and espresso.

The Imperial Johnny Smoke Porter will be available in bottleshops in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia from July 31st. It can also be purchased from the Wolf of the Willows online store or collected from the taproom on the 31st from 3pm until 6pm.

To celebrate the beer’s launch on August 1st, Wolf of the Willows has sent a limited amount of kegs to venues such as Netherworld Arcade and Bloodhound Corner Bar in Brisbane, The Franklin Hotel and The Gilbert Street Hotel in Adelaide, and The Woolhouse and The Grain Store in New South Wales.

Tasmanian venues, Saint John Craft Beer Bar, The Winston Bar and the Lark Distillery Cellar Door, will also be receiving the new beer, but keg tapping dates for these venues are yet to be confirmed.


Peaches and Cream and Doppelbock | Deeds Brewing

The latest addition to Deeds Brewing’s Milk Bar series, Peaches and Cream (7.7% abv) is now available for presale from Deeds’ online store. Also available for presale is the limited release Doppelbock (9.0% abv).


XPA | Capital Brewing Co.

Over the next few weeks, Capital Brewing Co. will be releasing its newest beer in the core range. The XPA is brewed with Mosaic, Azzaca and Amarillo hops to give it tropical and citrus flavours.

The 5.0% abv beer contains Azzacca, Amarillo and Mosaic hops, and will replace Capital’s Springboard Orange Whit in the lineup, and will be available in 16 packs.


Following the success of its Pub in a Box, which sold out in a matter of days, Moon Dog is launching another mixed pack of treats.

The Moon Dog & Friends Winter Treats Box features a selection of Moon Dog brews as well as some from 3 Ravens Brewery, chocolates from Birdsnake Chocolates, coffee from Coffee Supreme and a Moon Dog stubby holder.

The pack will be available to purchase online this week with Australia-wide shipping. It can also be purchased at Moon Dog’s Abbotsford and Preston venues.

Rare Breed: Barrel Aged Blended Porter | Mountain Goat

Mountain Goat has combined six New Zealand specialty malts (Ale, Munich, Dark Chocolate, Gladiator, Crystal, and Eclipse Wheat) to brew its new 9.0% abv Barrel Aged Blended Porter.

This latest addition to Mountain Goat’s limited edition Rare Breed series was aged in rum barrels from Australia’s oldest registered distillery, Beenleigh Rum Distillery, giving it deep flavours of chocolate and rum.

It will be available in stores this week.


Nitro Robust Porter | Bridge Road Brewers

Bridge Road has announced an update to its popular Robust Porter, now in cans and on nitro.

Brewed with Northern Brewer and Fuggles hops, the limited edition Nitro Robust Porter is available at the brewery in Beechworth and other Bridge Road stockists. There is also a limited amount available online.


Revolver | Brick Lane Brewing

Brick Lane Brewing has announced its new limited edition Winter 2020 release, the Revolver dark hoppy ale (5.8% abv).

Brewed with Pale, Dark Crystal, Munich and Chocolate malts as well as roast barley, and Ekuanot and Simcoe hops, Revolver is available now from the Brick Lane online store and beer venues.


Cashmere IIPA | Sea Legs Brewing Company

Brisbane’s Sea Legs Brewing Company has released a new American-style IIPA, brewed with a double dry hop dose of Cashmere.

Cashmere IIPA (9.0% abv) has flavours of melon, citrus and coconut and is available now from the brewery or Sea Leg’s online store.


Hoogley Session Ale and Cow Tipper Milk Stout | Catchment Brewing Co.

Named for a convict ship that spent time in Indian holy waters before making its way to Australia, the Hoogley Session Ale is a spritzy, 3.2% abv tropical mid-strength ale brewed with Citra and El Dorado hops.

 

 

Catchment Brewing’s second release this week is the 5.6% abv Cow Tipper Milk Stout, brewed with East End Goldings hops and flavours of chocolate, coffee and vanilla.

Both new beers are available now from Catchment’s online store.


Blackcurrant Gose | Burnley Brewing

Burnley Brewing’s newest addition, Blackcurrant Gose (4.2% abv), is now available at the Burnley bottleshop or from its online store.


Fudge Dredd | Dainton Brewery

Dainton Brewery has released a new 8.0% abv double chocolate fudge porter. Fudge Dredd is available now from Dainton’s online store.


Beetlejuice | Black Hops Brewing

Black Hops Brewing has released this year’s limited edition Beetlejuice, a 6.0% abv black NEIPA.

Originally brewed in 2017 as a collaborative beer with Brisbane’s The Scratch Bar, Black Hops has continued to brew Beetlejuice as a limited release every year since.

Beetlejuice is available exclusively from the Blackhops Taproom in Biggera Waters.


Great White Black Cherry Hard Seltzer | Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co.

Cheeky Monkey has released another flavour in its line of Great White hard seltzers (4.0% abv) with the new Black Cherry addition.


Western Tsar and Eastern Tsar | Beerfarm

Beerfarm has two new releases – the same beers from different barrels.

The new Western Tsar is aged in whiskey barrels and one quinoa barrel from Western Australia’s Whipper Snapper Distillery, giving it oak and whiskey characters, while the Eastern Tsar is aged in 100L whiskey barrels from Corowa Distilling Co in New South Wales, giving it coconut and vanilla aromas.

Both new beers will be available at all Beerfarm stockists from July 31st.


Sabro IPA | Akasha Brewing Company

Akasha Brewing Company is re-releasing its Sabro IPA, after its initial release earlier this year.

With flavours of tangerine, coconut, tropical and stone fruits, mint, cream and cedar, the limited release Sabro IPA is available online or from Akasha stockists.


Bright Brewery has announced home-deliveries of its growlers to Melbourne beer-lovers currently in lockdown.

Bright’s Melbourne brand ambassador, Evin Craney, will make his way through Melbourne delivering super limited brews, handcrafted specifically to bring a little excitement to Melbourne homes over the next few weeks.

The new beers (and an old favourite) include:

  • Maple x Chocolate Porter: A decadent blend of dark roasted and caramel malts, espresso, chocolate, and toffee with a sweet maple kick.
  • Raspberry x Blueberry Porter: Bittersweet chocolate porter with a sweet and tangy kick of raspberry and blueberry.
  • Grapefruit XPA: A zesty, hoppy XPA with a tantalisingly tart grapefruit punch.
  • Hop Burst Red IPA: Sweet and malty with a massive hop hit.
  • Blowhard Pale: Big tropical and fresh citrus hop aromas explode from the glass of this American style pale ale.

July 17th


Doppelator Winter Lager | Modus Operandi Brewing

In preparation for its sixth birthday next week and the upcoming Indie Beer Day, Modus Operandi has released a special birthday lager.

Doppelator (7.6% abv) is a winter lager brewed in the style of German monks, who would drink it for sustenance during winter. In keeping with tradition, Modus has brewed Doppelator with Vienna, Cara Munich, Melanoidin and Pilsner malts with Magnum and Hallertau Mittelfruh hops.

Doppelator Winter Lager will be available nationwide from Friday, and can be purchased from its online store.

COVID-19 restrictions permitting, Modus will also be hosting a birthday event on 25th July, tickets for which can be purchased here.


Mango Raspberry Slurpee Sour | Otherside Brewing Co.

Otherside Brewing Co. is releasing a new experimental smoothie-style Berliner Weisse beer.

The limited edition Mango Raspberry Sour (7.5% abv) has flavours of sherbert, mango and raspberry, and is now on pre-sale for delivery on July 20th.


Sir Plum McCartney and Apple Crumble Dessert Sour Ale | Moon Dog Craft Brewery

Victoria’s Moon Dog Craft Brewery has two new releases this week.

The first, Sir Plum McCartney Plum Sour Ale will have Beatles fans thinking, “Got to Get You into My Life”, it said. Brewed with six metric tonnes of plum, the 4.5% abv ale will soon be available “Here, There and Everywhere”.

 

The second new beer is another addition to Moon Dog’s In the Crumble, its Mighty Crumble dessert sour ale series. This latest beer is a 5.8% abv apple crumble sour with a strong stewed apple flavour and notes of cinnamon and vanilla.

The Apple Crumble Dessert Sour is now available in Victoria, and will be available to the rest of the country in the coming weeks.


Tip Jar Lager | Stomping Ground Brewing Co.

With hospitality being one of the hardest hit sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic, Victoria’s Stomping Ground Brewing Co. has teamed up with Tip Jar in an effort to raise $1,000,000 for its hospitality relief fund.

Stomping Ground’s new beer, Tip Jar, is a New World lager currently available online and soon to be available from the Stomping Ground Beer Hall.

Deep Space Haze | Aether Brewing

Aether Brewing has a new addition to its core range.

Originally released in April during the 2020 Australian Hop Harvest, Deep Space Haze quickly became a favourite at Aether.

The 5.2% abv hazy pale ale is brewed with all-Australian malts and Azacca, Cashmere and Galaxy Wet Hops, giving it notes of mango, pear, passionfruit and citrus.

Deep Space Haze will be available from Friday, July 17th at 3pm.


Peach Melba Pie | Burnley Brewing

Melbourne’s Burnley Brewing has collaborated with the Brunswick Beer Collective to brew its new NEIPA, the Peach Melba Pie (7.5% abv).

The fourth in Burnley’s Pie Round series, Peach Melba is filled with peaches, raspberries, vanilla and lactose and will be the first in the series to make its way into the can fridges of bottle shops everywhere.


Paradise TDH Hazy IIPA and East Side Hop Hash Hazy IPA | Deep Creek Brewing Co.

Auckland-based Deep Creek Brewing Co. has two new beer releases this week starting with the Paradise Triple Dry Hopped Hazy Double IPA (8.0% abv).

By adding two hops during fermentation and one towards the end, triple dry hopping maximises and intensifies the hop aromas and flavours of papaya and citrus that give Paradise its name.

The second new release is a collaboration between two double champion brewers for the Smiths New Zealand IPA Challenge, Deep Creek and Fork Brewcorp.

The East Side Hop Hash Hazy IPA (6.5% abv) is brewed with all New Zealand hops and a dose of Nelson Sauvin Hop Hash.


Black Hawk and Mega Hornet | Black Hops Brewing

Gold Coast brewery Black Hops Brewing has two new releases this week, with its new Black Hawk Imperial Stout and Mega Hornet Triple IPA.

Black Hawk is an 8.5% abv stout with notes of dark fruit, chocolate and black coffee, while the 11% abv Mega Hornet – the biggest IPA in the Black Hops range – is brewed with Columbus, Citra, Simcoe and Strata hops to give it a tropical aroma.

Both new beers are available at the Black Hops taprooms and will be in bottle shops and venues later this week.


Coconut and Mango Thundercloud Sour IPA | Bodriggy Brewing Co.

Bodriggy Brewing Co. has released the latest beer in its Thundercloud Sour IPA series, with tropical flavours of coconut and mango.

The Coconut and Mango Thundercloud Sour IPA (6.4% abv) is available now from the Froff Shop and online.


Pub in a Box | Moon Dog Craft Brewery

With the reintroduction of lockdown in Victoria last Wednesday, Moon Dog Craft Brewery has launch Pub in a Box.

Containing two schooner glasses, snacks and a selection of beers from Moon Dog’s limited releases and core ranges, Pub in a Box is intended to raise some spirits by providing a pub-style set up at home.

Wayward Son | Wayward Brewing Co.

Initially released two years ago in celebration of the birth of its head brewer’s baby, Wayward Brewing Co. has re-released the Wayward Son Lupulin IPA, brewed with Citra Lupulin hops.

This year’s 7.3% abv release has the addition of being hazy, with notes of apricot, pine, passionfruit and mango.

A list of stockists will be available from the Wayward blog from July 17th.


Nitro Bee Sting Cream Ale | Aether Brewing

Brisbane’s Aether Brewing has teamed up with Flour & Chocolate to create the Nitro Bee Sting Cream Ale (5.5% abv).

According to Aether it has aromas of vanilla and custard, and will be available July 10th from 3pm at the Aether taproom.


Onyx Slam Black IPA | Sea Legs Brewing Company and Pink Boots Society Australia

In celebration of its 100th brew, Sea Legs Brewing Company has teamed up with Pink Boots Society Australia to create the special limited release Onyx Slam Black IPA (6.5% abv).

The limited release is available from the brewery and Sea Legs’ online store while stocks last.


True Course Session Ale and Epsom Stout | Braeside Brewing Co.

Victoria’s Braeside Brewing Co. has two new beer releases this week, starting with the True Course Session Ale.

With Pale, Vienna and Crystal malts and Amarillo hops, the 4.2% abv brew has notes of stone fruit and pine, according to Braeside.

 

Its second release is the 4.5% abv Epsom Stout, brewed with roast barley, honey malt, chocolate malt, oats and East Kent Goldings hops.

Both new beers will be available from the Braeside Taphouse in Mordialloc or from one of the brewery’s stockists.


Oat Cream IPA and The Pavlova Sour | Revel Brewing Co.

Revel Brewing Co., in collaboration with Currumbin Valley Brewing, released a limited edition Hazy IPA, which sold out eight hours after it was announced.

While the 7.0% abv Oat Cream IPA sold out before this week’s New Beers was published, but hopefully Revel will brew another batch in future for those who missed out.

 

Revel is also rereleasing its popular limited edition fruited Berliner Weisse, the Pavlova Sour (5.0% abv). It’s brewed with fresh passionfruit, kiwi fruit, strawberries, blueberries and oranges.


Rogue TRIIIPA | Dainton Beer

Victoria’s Dainton Beer has a new release this week with the hoppy, 10% abv Triple Hazy IPA.

It will be available from July 10th.


Boneyards and Silverback Stout | Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co.

Western Australia’s Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co. has released a new East Coast IPA.

Named for the notorious surf break, Boneyards (7.0% abv) is triple dry hopped with Samba, El Dorado, Mosaic and Cascade, giving the hazy beer tropical flavours and aromas of punchy pineapple, mango, melons, and mandarin citrus notes, according to Cheeky Monkey.

Limited stock is available from the Cheeky Monkey online store.

Cheeky Monkey has also released the second batch of its seasonal Silverback Stout (10% abv).

The Russian Imperial Stout is brewed with Bravo and Amarillo hops to give it a thick mouthfeel and flavours of plums, raisins and dates, sweet chocolate, light coffee notes and a pinch of citrus, the brewer said.

Silverback Stout is available at local bottle shops or directly from the brewery.


Good Thanks, Yourself? and Big Night Big Night | Bodriggy Brewing Co.

Bodriggy Brewing Co. in Victoria has another double release this week starting with Good Thanks, Yourself? – a double dry hopped hazy ale.

At 5.5% abv, the pale ale is brewed with Citra, Zappa and Meridian hops, giving it flavours of tangerine, orange sherbert and blackcurrant.

 

The second new release is the Big Night Big Night hazy double IPA (7.9% abv), brewed with Cashmere and Mosaic hops to give the IPA intense flavours of mangoes, passionfruit, pineapples, guava, coconut, grapes and limes.

Both new releases are available from Bodriggy’s online store or in person at the Froff Shop.


Once More Into the Fray | Deeds Brewing

After aging in bourbon barrels for 12 months, the Deeds Brewing’s limited edition imperial stout (13.3% abv) has finally been released.

The Warrior, EKG and Fuggles hops give the stout, dubbed Once More Into the Fray, “thick chocolate notes, backed by vanilla, coconut, whiskey and oak”.

While the first lot has sold out, Deeds will be putting up some more cases for sale today, which are likely to sell out quickly.


Raspberry Sour | Glass House Brewery

Queensland’s Glass House Brewery has released a new addition to its core range.

The tart Raspberry Sour (4.0% abv) is now available to purchase online and instore.


Dry Stout | Burnley Brewing

Burnley Brewing in Victoria has canned its 4.2% abv Dry Stout, a classic stout brewed with traditional English hops.

It is available in its new cans from the Burnley online store.


Brekkie Gose | Capital Brewing Co.

Capital Brewing Co. has taken the traditional German Gose and added grapefruit and orange juice to create its latest taproom special release, Brekkie Gose (2.5% abv).

Brewed with Galaxy and Amarillo hops, Brekkie Gose is now pouring at the Capital taproom and is also available for one litre growler takeaways.


Sharers | Fixation Brewing Company

Fixation Brewing Company has announced the return of its one litre sharers, with the new batches including:

  • The 86, a 6.2% abv hazy IPA named for “86 tram that runs by on Smith Street”.
  • Symbiotic Robotic, a 5.4% abv black IPA, heavily hopped with Cascade and Simcoe hops giving it notes of pine, roast and a hint of smoke.
  • You Tell Me, a 6.8% abv NEIPA, twice dry hopped with Citra and Idaho 7 Cryo hops.
  • Blush, a 4.3% abv hibiscus sour IPA, brewed with native hibiscus flowers and Tasmanian Ella hops.
  • Soul Patch, a 4.3% abv sour IPA with “hop notes of citrus, lime cordial and a sherbet like sweetness”.

The sharers can be collected from the Incubator in Collingwood or ordered online if you are within a 10 kilometer radius.

Press Rewind | Modus Operandi

Brewed to evoke memories of classic West Coast IPAs, Modus Operandi’s 6.5% abv Press Rewind has flavours of resin and pine with a caramel malt backbone.

It is available now on the Modus online store.


Triple Vinyl | Otherside Brewing Co.

Otherside Brewing’s 10.2% abv Triple Vinyl IPA is a reworking of the brewery’s popular Vinyl Black IPA.

With flavours of citrus, pineapple, stone fruit and coconut, Triple Vinyl is available for presale from the Otherside online store.


Handsome Elvis | Balter Brewing Company

Balter Brewing is rereleasing its popular 6.5% abv Handsome Elvis as a limited seasonal release.

The nitro milk stout has flavours of hazelnut, espresso, chocolate and berry and can be found via Balter’s Beer Locator.


Burleigh Smokin’ | Burleigh Brewing Co.

Burleigh Brewing’s new limited release was initially a Taphouse Exclusive that proved to be very popular.

The 6.2% abv traditional German smoked dark lager is now being released for a limited time only in a can.

It is available now from the Burleigh online store.


Kronos 2020 | Helios Brewing Company

This year’s Kronos release from Helios Brewing Company is in the form of a 9.1% abv Imperial Nitro Stout, in cans for the first time.

It is available now for presale, and will be released on July 7th for pick up and delivery.


Double Choc Double Milk Nitro Stout | Stomping Ground Brewing Co.

Stomping Ground Brewing Co., in collaboration with Melbourne Cocoa, has created a limited edition World Chocolate Day beer.

The 6.3% abv Double Choc Double Milk Nitro Stout is brewed like an imperial stout with added cocoa, lactose and nitro.

The Nitro Stout along with its matching chocolate bar, is currently available from the Stomping Ground online store and selected independent bottleshops throughout Melbourne, and will be available on tap at the Stomping Ground Brewery and Beer Hall from July 7th.


Kalsarikännit | Two Birds Brewing

Named for the Finnish word kalsarikännit (kawl-SAW-ree-KAHN-eet) meaning pantsdrunk, Two Birds Brewing’s Hazy Pale and Vanilla & Cacao Stout are made for “the simple pleasure of drinking at home, comfortably down to your underwear, with no intention of going out”.

The Hazy Pale (5.3% abv, 30 IBUs) is made with Samba, Enigma, Ekuanot and Mosaic hops, giving it pineapple and mango flavours.

The Vanilla & Cacao Stout (5.8% abv, 58 IBUs) is brewed with whole vanilla beans and cacao nibs as well as Columbus, Warrior and HPA-016 hops to give it chocolate aromas and notes of pine and resin.

Empress | Holgate Brewhouse

As a homage to the 2008 Temptress Chocolate Porter, Holgate Brewhouse’s 10% abv Empress Imperial Mocha Porter is brewed with English and German specialty malts as well as Belgian Candi syrup and oats.

Empress is available for purchase from the Holgate online store.


Arrive Late, Leave Early | All Inn Brewing Co.

All Inn Brewing’s new limited release, the 7.0% abv Arrive Late, Leave Early West Coast IPA, is available now from the All Inn taproom, online and from selected bottleshops.


Uniformity of Form | White Bay Beer Co.

White Bay Beer’s third release in its IPA series, Uniformity of Form (7.0% abv) is brewed with a “large dose of American hops” to bring flavours of mango and citrus.

The limited release is available now through White Bay’s online store and in person from the brewery.


Cacao Hazelnut Stout and Bad Boy Bao Bao Milk Stout 2020 | Black Brewing Co.

To celebrate the Margaret River brewery’s reopening, Black Brewing’s brewers have released two new beers – a Cacao Hazelnut Stout and the 2020 release of the popular Bad Boy Bao Bao Milk Stout.

The 6.4% abv Cacao Hazelnut Stout is the latest of Black Brewing’s seasonal releases, made with roasted hazelnuts and locally sourced cacao husks.

Bad Boy Bao Bao (8.5% abv) is the big brother of the Bao Bao Milk Stout, bringing together coffee, chocolate and lactose.

Both new beers will be available at local craft beer specialist liquor stores and venues.


Enigma Pillows | Wolf of the Willows

Due to the popularity of nitro beers, Victoria’s Wolf of the Willows is creating a series of hazy nitro beers beginning with the new Enigma Pillows double dry hopped oat cream hazy double IPA.

Brewed with Enigma hops, some lactose and lots of oats, the 8.1% abv brew will be available from July 10th, but is available now for preorder.


Choc-Chip Oatmeal Cookie Stout | Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co.

Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co. has released the latest Pastry Stout in its Bake House series.

Inspired by oatmeal cookies and loaded with choc chips and raisin mix, the 6.8% abv Choc-Chip Oatmeal Cookie Stout is available for a limited time only.

Cheeky Monkey is aiming for a list of stockists to be released by the end of the week.


Luftschloss and Tragic | Newstead Brewing Co.

Newstead Brewing Co. has two special releases this week, the first of which was brewed in collaboration with Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan, the oldest brewery in the world.

Luftschloss is an “old-meets-new world” Pilsner brewed with old world Hallertau and new world Ella hops, putting a modern spin on a classic style – available at the Newstead pubs and local bottleshops.

 

The second of Newstead’s new beer releases is Tragic with flavours of chocolate, roast coffee, caramel, pine, grapefruit and a hint of citrus.

Tragic will be available on tap at Brewski, The Scratch, Netherworld, Fitz + Potts and The Woods Bar.


The Second Horseman | Deeds Brewing

The second of the DeedsImperial Stout Dark Deeds series is named for the rider on the Red Horse, the second of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

The Second Horseman (10% abv) is brewed with Warrior hops, giving flavours reminiscent of “old timey chocolate milk” made from melted down chocolate bars and cream.It is due to be released next week, but is currently available for preorder from the Deed’s online store.


Campfire Pale Ale | Collaboration

Eight Mornington Peninsula breweries have teamed up to create a very limited release Campfire Pale Ale.

Brewed at Red Hill Brewery with raw materials supplied by Cryer Malt, the ale is brewed with U.S. and Australian hops.
