In an exciting announcement for the Canberra community, BentSpoke Brewing Co and Capital Brewing co. will be serving locally made beers at GIO Stadium from this weekend.
The two local breweries will serve beer on tap and in cans at the newly named “The Local” at the southern end of the stadium, as well as at the “Local Bar” on the West Concourse of the Mal Meninga Stand.
The establishment of the two bars for service of local beers follows an extensive consultation and design process from Venues Canberra. In the last few years BentSpoke and Capital Brewing have been served at Manuka Oval, Floriade, National Folk Festival and Enlighten Festival.
Head Brewer and Co-Owner of BentSpoke Brewing Co, Richard Watkins said “This is a great result for the Canberra community who love to support local sport and have shown that they love to support local producers. BentSpoke is proud to be providing a choice of quality local beers at GIO Stadium. Between BentSpoke and Capital Brewing there will be a range of beers served that is unrivalled at any stadium in Australia.”
“The ACT Government has shown great leadership and an understanding of what the sporting public wants to drink in choosing to partner with two local breweries” “At a time when climate change is one of the most important issues faced by our society, the ACT Government has again led the way on sustainability, consuming locally made is one of the best ways to reduce individual carbon emissions. said Capital’s Managing Director Laurence Kain. “We’re confident it will demonstrate a successful model for other jurisdictions around the country to follow.”
BentSpoke were recently announced as the beer of the Brumbies in a 3-year sponsorship with all Brumbies home games played at GIO Stadium.
