Great Northern Brewing Co has launched a campaign aimed at showcasing Australia’s favourite camping, hiking, fishing and outdoor locations to help kickstart the return of tourism.
Great Northern Brewing Co and leading travel app, CamperMate, have joined forces to create The Great Return campaign, encouraging people to get back out and explore their regions.*
Great Northern’s Antonia Ciorciari said Australians had faced some big setbacks in the past 12 months and the campaign aimed to give everyone something to look forward to as restrictions
ease.
The latest Independent Road Travel Index by TripTech, powered by CamperMate and 13 other travel apps, reveals the number of Australians taking road trips in June 2020 dropped by about 60 per cent compared with the previous year, however, by July people were once again hitting the road by car, caravan or RV.
“The road to recovery is long, and we’re hoping Great Northern can help inspire and get moretravellers back out on the road enjoying the regions,” Ms Ciorciari said.
Ms Ciorciari said The Great Return website was creating a map of the top spots for fishing, camping, and off-road experiences with recommendations directly from road-trippers who had holidayed at the locations.
“People can upload a recommendation to the website of their favourite campsite or outdoor activity, or they can send a free personalised postcard to family or friends to inspire planning
for their next trip together,” she said.
“The Great Return map will grow into a great resource for Aussies who love getting out and exploring their own back yard.”
Along with maps and photos, Ms Ciorciari said the website also included booking links to campsites through CamperMate, as well as links to local tourism websites about sites and activities on offer in regional communities.
“We wanted to do something to inspire those who are allowed to safely travel to begin planning and getting back out there,” Ms Ciorciari said.
“Great Northern is about mateship, and we want Australians to get out and support all those people who have been doing it tough, and who need a helping hand to recover.”
CamperMate CEO Nick Baker said its new partnership with Great Northern Brewing Co was anideal match-up, reflecting the aspiration of Australians to travel and explore their big back yard.
While the there was still a long road back to recovery for the tourism sector, signs of a restart are pleasingly positive.
“We want to give that a further push and are encouraging people to log on to The Great Return website and start planning a future camping holiday with family and friends now,” Mr Baker said.
