ACBC 2015 - A focus on quality
It is now only 5 weeks until the Australian Craft Brewers Conference kicks off for 2015 in Melbourne as a part of Good Beer Week.
The ACBC is the craft beer industry’s premier event for building knowledge, networks and business.
In 2015 the conference, through its Brewery Operations stream, has identified quality assurance and quality control as key areas to focus on.
A number of presentations will address these topics across the 2 days including:
- Small Brewery/Big Quality – Dirk Penny (Gage Roads Brewing Co)
- The Importance of yeast health and its effect on finished beer – Dr Peter Aldred (Federation University)
- Building a Sensory Panel – Tina Panoutsos (CUB)
- Brewery Upgrades: Getting it right and maintaining quality – Brad Rogers (Stone & Wood Brewing Co)
And these are just 4 of the 22 presentations on offer across two days.
Other highlights include:
Keynote address delivered by Steve Hindy. Steve is the co-founder, chair and president of Brooklyn Brewery, one of the US’s top 20 breweries. Steve has over 25 years experience in the craft beer industry including being heavily involved in the US Brewers Asssociation and the Beer Institute.
A Brewery Operations special presentation by Denis Gayte. Denis is the North American Sales and Sustainability Manager from key hop supplier Yakima Chief. If you want to know how the market for US hops is looking into the future then nobody can give a better insight then Denis.
A Sales and Management special presentation by Mazen Hajjar. With the opening of Hawkers Beer in Melbourne Mazen has now operated breweries in two countries. Add to this his experience running airlines in the Middle East and you have somebody with a unique perspective on running a business.

New in 2015 we are presenting The Art of Selling Craft, a one day symposium for the on-premise trade with a programme full of educational seminars to broaden delegates’ skills and knowledge when it comes to serving craft beer.
Some of the best in the business will be on hand to give insights on how they run their own establishments while top industry consultants will also share their knowledge.
This is a great opportunity for breweries and bar & pub owners.
Breweries: are there accounts that you are trying to secure where giving them some additional information about craft beer may help? Then this is a great opportunity to do that. Or do you have a great customer that you want to thank for their support? Bring them along to The Art of Selling Craft.
The Art of Selling Craft also provides an excellent opportunity for pub and bar owners to further the professional development of their staff at a reasonable cost.
Venue managers, duty managers and other senior staff will gain valuable knowledge and insights from this opportunity to engage with respected industry professionals and trainers.
Tickets are only $150 (including lunch) and can be purchased here.
