Anyone got a brewery they don’t need?
Here at Brews News we will have a crack at any topic as long as it’s related to our desire to further the cause of good beer. We’ve promoted festivals and flogged brew courses, we’ve interviewed brewers and retailers and venue managers and we’ve helped sell old brewery equipment. Dang, we even advertised trucks once!
This time around we are looking to help a fledgling brewer kit up for commercial production by seeking a 1000l or smaller system. Or a set-up that will fit comfortably into what was once the manager’s office of a heritage listed bank building in country Victoria.
The new brewery will be housed in a beautiful old brick building in a tiny hamlet just over an hour from Melbourne in South Gippsland. The plan is to run the Brewhouse from the old manager’s office, with the added bonus of being able to keep all the bonded stuff in the old safe. A small distillery producing fine whiskey will be incorporated along with a small tasting area and cellar door operation.
The couple setting up the venture are some hard-working former inner-city folk looking to make the tree-change and create a little business in a small community while giving visitors a proper excuse to pop in on their way to some of Victoria’s most popular tourist destinations. It might mirror the experience of some of our established brewers who may remember what it was like in the very beginning.
If any reader knows of a Brewhouse available or if there is an active brewer looking for the right excuse to upgrade their current system, swing me an email here at Brews News at profpilsner@brewsnews.com.au A spotter’s fee of a small dram of the first whiskey and a bottle of nice beer may be arranged.
