Eddyline Brewery came away from Thursday nights Brewers Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards with a medal haul rivaling breweries twice their size.

The awards, an annual event, was held virtually this year with events around New Zealand including Nelson, Queenstown, Christchurch, Tauranga and Wellington due to COVID restrictions.

The judging itself was done two weeks prior by a selection of judges who had to taste their way through 838 entries from 72 breweries. This is a mammoth undertaking and Eddyline Brewery
would like to acknowledge the effort and thank the organisers, stewards and judges.

The (Eddyline Brewery) craft beer brewery won a total of 8 awards, picking up two silvers for their Pozzy NZ Pale Ale and High Tide Double IPA. A further six bronzes were awarded for beers ranging from beer styles including Kolsch, Hazy IPA, West Coast IPA, spiced pumpkin ale and Porter.

Eddyline Brewery co-owner Mic Heynekamp says the eight medals “represent a lot of hard work and dedication by the entire team as we are always pursuing the goal to constantly improve”.

“Consumer feedback, who ultimately are the real judges of our beers, has been overwhelmingly positive and we truly believe this reflects that we are doing something right, across the whole
brewery. Winning medals for so many different styles affirms that.”

Eddyline Brewery confirmed today three of their beers including the bronze medal Summer in the Citra Hazy IPA have been ranged in Countdown NZ which will further bring Eddyline’s range of beers to more kiwis. Having recently developed a ‘cube’ 440ml 4-pack in four different styles, the future’s looking bright for one of Nelson’s top breweries.
