For once, a dark secret that wasn’t first met with an official denial days before a confirming media release (yes, CUB, I am looking at you).

The Crafty Pint has revealed the locations that will be pouring the beer created as part of the inaugural Good Beer Week Masterclass of Champions. It will be launched around Australia on September 8.

Brewed by Denise Jones of Moylan’s, from California, and Kjetil Jikiun from Norway’s Nøgne Ø at Hargreaves Hill in May, Our Dark Secret is an 8.2 per cent hop bomb featuring all Aussie hops, including the as-yet-unreleased Victoria’s Secret.

The two breweries won the title of Champion Exhibitor at the 2010 and 2011 Australian International Beer Awards and agreed to mark their first visits to Australia with a collaborative brew in the company of around 30 beer lovers. For Moylan’s, it was their first ever collaboration in 17 years of brewing.

As for the beer, if Our Dark Secret had a style, it would be an Imperial Black IPA. And if you fancy tasting it, there are only 13 kegs in existence.

They have been sent to the following craft beer venues around the country to be tapped on the same day.

Hargreaves Hill, Yarra Valley – Owner Simon Walkenhorst will be tapping the beer when the Yarra Glen restaurant opens. There may be some beers from the international brewers on hand too.

The Scratch, Brisbane – According to the owners: “The plan is simple… Open doors at 12 noon, beer is poured until it pours no more.”

Jack Greene, Hobart – Bar manager Kris Miles will be chatting about both breweries plus Good Beer Week collaborations from 5pm. There might even be a burger matched to it too.

The Local Taphouse Darlo – Pouring from midday.

The Wheaty – Join the Wheaty crew from 5pm as part of their month-long lupulin fest, the Fountain Of Hoppiness. Will Our Dark Secret rate among the hoppiest of all the beers on their lineup?

Beer DeLuxe – Keep an eye on the Fed Square bar’s social media as they may be offering samples in return for your dark secrets.

Norfolk Hotel, Fremantle – The kegs are going on “first thing in the morning” apparently.
