Critics Choice Top 100 Countdown #4
Number four in the Critics’ Choice Top 100 is Feral Brewing’s Watermelon Warhead. One of the great things about this year’s list of 100 beers is the appearance of so many new beers. The Watermelon Warhead rockets into four place with a bullet.
Pete Mitcham describes it as possibly the most insanelymarvelousbeer to hit the scene since the discovery of yeast, this is all that a good beer should be – and less. Full of flavour, complexity and thirst-quenching satisfaction, but with little more alcohol than a Seventh Day Adventist Church picnic. The beer to have when you’d like just one more.
The Brewer’s notes describe a light German style sour wheat beer brewed with an addition of half a ton of local Swan Valley watermelons. The beer spends up to 15 weeks in white wine barrels with lactobacillus before being blended to the desired taste and sourness. A fresh, spritzy and refreshing beer.
The Critics’ Choice: Australia’s Best Beers RRP $14.95
