Duckstein bottles First Batch

Duckstein Brewery may be unfamiliar to many beer drinkers of Australia’s eastern states. However, the brewery has been a strong player in the rise of Western Australia’s successful microbrewing industry and culture. Founded in 1999, the boutique brewing and restaurant business operates two venues, with the original venue in the Swan Valley and a lavish new brewery restaurant at Saracen Estates in Margaret River.

Capatilising on the region’s strong tourism trade, Duckstein aims to offer a little piece of Germany to visitors by primarily producing classic Bavarian style beers alongside German food. The brewery’s core range includes the traditional German styles of Pilsner, Hefeweizen, Dunkel and Altbier, whilst their seasonal releases have ranged from American Pale Ales to Stouts.

Until now Duckstein’s only packaged beer sales had been 5 litre mini-kegs, but today they have announced their first venture into a bottled release, teaming up with Gage Roads Contract Brewery to allow a take-away option for visitors to their venues. Duckstein’s former head brewer, Paul Gasmier, is now the brewery manager at Gage Roads. [JD]
