The Local Taphouse has finalised a date for the Great Australian Beer SpecTAPular and is calling for suggestions for one of the brews.

The event will take place on February 12, 2011.

One of the emerging highlights on the Australian craft beer scene is the regular SpecTAPular beerfests hosted each season by The Local Taphouse in Sydney and Melbourne. Past events have featured beer themes including Winter Beers, Anzac Day, Hopping Mad, Moose & Mountie, Star Spangled, Summer Beers and Oktoberfest.

The event will be an invitational beerfest where Australian craft breweries brew a special beer just for the occasion or launch a new seasonal for the first time.

Taphouse owner Steve Jeffares said attendees should expect to sample exclusive beers from Murrays, Bridge Road, Feral, Last Drop, Mountain Goat, 4 Pines, Brew Boys, Wig & Pen, Hargreaves Hill and Stone & Wood.

One participating brewer, Feral’s Brendan Varis, has been mulling over what beer to brew and he’s currently partial to brewing a coconut brown ale but he will be inviting attendees at the next Darlinghurst Taphouse’s Ale Star session to provide input.

Brendan is the special guest at the December Feral session on December 7.
