Murray’s in Melbourne
Great news for Melbourne’s craft beer drinkers, with the bottled range of flavoursome beers from Port Stephens’ Murray’s Craft Brewing Co now available in store at Slowbeer in Hawthorn.
Until now, only the Nirvana Pale Ale and Sassy Blonde Belgian-style ale from Murray’s have been available to purchase from Victorian shelves through Dan Murphy’s stores across the State. The coveted range of speciality beers from Murray’s Brewing have only been available to Melbourne residents through online purchases via the Murray’s Brewing website or occasionally on tap in beer bars such as The Local Taphouse, Beer DeLuxe and Biero Bar.
Murray’s brewing philosophy is “love, passion and – most importantly – flavour”. Most of their beers are not brewed strictly true to style, crafting innovative hybrids and unique drinking experiences, which have gained them broad acclaim.
“We brew the beers we love to drink – unconventional, full flavoured, big aroma beers,” the brewery proclaims.
The 100% Australian-owned craft beer business has also become locally renowned for their creative and clever naming and labelling of their products, providing attractive incentives for the curious beer drinker to discover exactly what the “Heart of Darkness” or an “Angry Man” tastes like.
In stock at Slowbeer you will now find:
- Icon 2IPA – 7.5% abv American style Imperial Indian Pale Ale
- Grand Cru – 8.8% abv hybrid Belgian Trippel and Golden Strong Ale style
- Punch & Judy’s Ale – 3.9% abv English Bitter
- Whale Ale – 4.5% abv American Wheat Beer
- Wild Thing – 10.0% abv Imperial Stout
Adding to the excitement of Murray’s arrival in Melbourne, the two men behind these beers – Murray Howe and head brewer Shawn Sherlock – will be the guest presenters at next Tuesday’s (19 October) St Kilda “Ale Star” beer appreciation session, which is held monthly at The Local Taphouse.
Murray and Shawn will share their brewing story and walk you through tastings of their beers, including the Punch & Judy, Angry Man, Grand Cru, Icon and well as a yet to be revealed special treat! As an added bonus, bottles of the Wild Thing Imperial Stout will be also available to purchase. Ticket prices are $40 and everyone is welcome. You must pre-book via the Local Taphouse website.
