New bottleshop to champion Inner West brewers
Local beer, wine and spirits are the key focus of P&V Wine and Liquor, a new bottleshop in Sydney’s Inner West.
The shop has been founded by Lou Dowling of burger empire Mary’s and wine writer Mike Bennie, along with Jake Smyth and Kenny Graham of Mary’s, The Lansdowne and The Unicorn Hotel.
“As drinkers of natural wine, local beers and small batch spirits, we felt that the Inner West was missing a local resource for getting access to all the interesting drinks coming from avant-garde producers,” said Bennie.
Dowling told Brews News the shop will range beers from local outfits including Young Henrys, Batch, Wayward, Grifter, Yulli’s and Willie The Boatman.
“We want to sell beers that represent the inner west, but in an extremely approachable and easily drinkable beer fashion,” Dowling said.
“We have such a good relationship with these breweries and we love supporting these breweries who we’ve been friends with for years.”
A small space in the upstairs section of the bottle-o will serve as an events room for local brewers to use for tastings and training sessions, display new products and host craft educational classes.
“We really want this to be a community space, where you can have a chat with staff, ask questions, and try something new.”
“Locals can come in, feel welcomed and be in a comfortable space in the form of a bottle shop.”
P&V can be found at 64 Enmore Road, Newtown.
