People Moves compiles recent job appointments, promotions and departures within the brewing industry across Australia and New Zealand.

Paul Daley has started a new position as National Field Sales Manager at BentSpoke Brewing Co. He joins the Canberra-based brewery from Lion where he worked for more than 8 years, reaching the position of Craft Beer Ambassador Leader, leading Paul is an Advanced Cicerone and has driven the recent formation of a new beer education community aiming to support those undergoing Cicerone certification and combat the decline with professional education and increased advocacy from those who interact with consumers in the service of beer.  Paul said he was excited to join Bentspoke as one of the country’s leading independent craft breweries.

“Rich made a compelling case for me to join the business, and I really believe in the beers and the business that Richard and Tracey have built,” he told Brews News.

Iain Cooper joins Coopers BreweryIain Cooper | Coopers Brewery

Sixth-generation Coopers family member, Iain Cooper, has joined the family-owned brewery in the role of Technical Brewer. Iain is the son of current Managing Director and Chief Brewer, Dr Tim Cooper.

A qualified brewer, Iain joins the family business after three-and-a-half years working with Carlsberg in Copenhagen, focusing on malt research and honing his craft brewing skills. Coopers has a partnership with Carlsberg, brewing and distributing its beers in Australia.

Iain initially completed a degree in media and economics at the University of NSW, before later deciding to formally pursue his passion for brewing, spending time in Edinburgh working with various local breweries and studying a Master of Science in brewing and distilling.

He joins other sixth generation members — his cousin Andrew Cooper (son of company Chairman Glenn Cooper) is the brewery’s Export Beer Manager, while Iain’s sister Louise Cooper is the brewery’s Strategic Development Manager.

Olly Munro has returned to New Zealand to start a new position as General Manager at Behemoth Brewing Company

Behemoth was recently crowned Champion Medium International Brewery at the Australian International Beer Awards and reached an agreement to use the trademarked name Behemoth in Australia following its recent relaunch in Australia.

 

Mike Morris joins PMGMike Morris | Premium Machinery Group

Mike Morris has joined Premium Machinery Group from Portavin/Sanector, taking up the role of National Sales Manager. Morris teams up with former Alpha colleague Chris Chrystiuk to work on new brewery and distillery projects for the first Chinese brewhouse, distillery and winery tank manufacturer to set itself up with a local branch in Australia.

Balmain’s White Bay Beer has farewelled founding brew team Dennis de Boer and Jess Walker, who leave the business to embark on a 12-month trekking adventure through Europe and Africa.

White Bay Beer is still seeking a replacement for former Head Brewer de Boer, and the job description can be seen here.
