New: Beervana App
Beervana 2014’s smartphone app is set to make this year’s festival a more social and interactive experience than ever.
Custom built by developers at Wellington online power retailer Powershop, the app allows festival goers to rate and review beers as they go, creating a real-time ‘People’s Choice’ leaderboard.
Alongside the top ranked brews, those with more adventurous tastes can check out the Odd leaderboard, home of the festival’s most popular experimental and unusual beers.
The app also lets festival goers build personal wishlists so no beers are left untasted, and a handy map pointing the way to the best eateries, entertainment and places to be at the event.
Powershop’s Ari Sargent says building the app was a labour of love for his staff as it combined two of their favourite things, smartphones and craft beer.
The official Beervana 2014 app is available for both iOS and Android and can be downloaded from the following links:
Beervana Dollars on a wristband
It’s a year of embracing new technologies at Beervana, as along with the Beervana app, special wristbands are being introduced for you to load up your Beervana currency onto. This will be the only way you can pay for beer and food at the event.
You can then use to pay for your beer and food tastings by passing it over an RFID reader. And the best thing is – they are hard to lose!
