The nominees for the 2nd annual Time Out Melbourne Pub Awards have been announced. The awards recognise Melbourne’s top watering holes and provide a platform for the launch of the second annual Time Out Melbourne Pub Guide.

The awards will be held at Beer DeLuxe in Federation Square, the official hub of Good Beer Week and all things craft beer in the city, on Monday 18 May 2015 from 6.30pm.

There will be 10 awards up for grabs including Pub of the Year, Publican of the Year and Best Pub Revival. A brand new category – the Old School Pub Award – will recognise a good old fashioned, classic pub that’s at the heart of its local community.

Time Out’s team of beer nuts will judge nine of the awards, while the People’s Choice Award, as ever, will be judged by Time Out readers. Voting is now open for readers to vote for their favourite from the top ten reader-nominated pubs for the People Choice Award via the website.

Time Out Melbourne Pubs Editor, Fred Siggins, explains: “Pubs are as integral to Melbourne as AFL and coffee. Whether new and shiny or old and daggy, these joints are the beating heart of every Melbourne neighbourhood and are a huge part of what makes this the best city in the world to live.”
