Spending a good part of his life crafting words to make you crave your next cold frothy…Pete Brown is a beer expert, writer and all round legend and is heading down under from the UK.

Researching for his next book, that delves into the hop bud which is responsible for bittering, as well as creating that distinctive flavour and aroma, we thought we would bring him down under to take a look at some of Australia’s new world hops.

Stone & Wood Brewery and Hops Product Australia will share with Pete their relationships with the Galaxy and Ella hops, taking him to the source of where they’re grown and enlightening him on how these hops have won the hearts of Australian beer drinkers.

It’s crazy to think there was a time when HPA was considering culling their proprietary hop fields because beers that had flavour and aroma were not being brewed. Fast forward to 2016 and they have a program dedicated to creating more weird and wonderful new world hops that becoming the aromatic highlights of beers that are on taps across the country.

Galaxy is the hop responsible for giving our flagship beer Pacific Ale its distinctive fruity punch and for our sessionable Garden Ale, Ella gives the beer its unique citrus aroma and flavour. For us, being able to work with a Australian supplier is just as important as making the most of sourcing the best ingredients available today.

As we venture south to the Hop Harvest in Tassie, we will be loading Pete up with fresh Galaxy hops picked straight from the bines. Smuggling these hops back to Byron he will dry hop our New Season Pacific Ale brew, before heading up to Brissie to talk the talk and drink it with guests at the official launch at Archive for Brewsvegas.

Along the way he’ll be stopping off at a couple of venues chatting all things beer, sharing his wisdom from his extensive career in the beer industry and enjoying a cold one with those he meets on his journey……so regardless of whether you’ve heard of him or not come along to one of our free events for your chance to pick the brains of a crafty expert!
