Wolf of the Willows are pleased to announce their exciting expansion plans for a new production and on-site tap room in Melbourne’s South-East bayside suburb of Mordialloc.
The opportunity to take over a partially completed brewery and taproom recently became available, and given Wolf of the Willows was hitting current production capacity back in mid 2018, the time to expand and grow into a new and larger brewery was well overdue.
The new site will feature a 115 seat taproom, with 12 rotating beers on tap. In the initial stages they will partner with local food-trucks, with council approvals to build their own on-site kitchen and food offering in the future. The taproom and brewery are planned to be open early 2020.
They will continue to brew out of their existing co-owned brewery space with Bad Shepherd Brewing Co. in Cheltenham. However, this expansion will ensure they are able to upscale their production, as well as now having the ability to have a personal touch point with the local community and craft beer lovers via the taproom.
“We want to create a best practice brewing facility, one where we increase our current production volume, as well as expand our sour and barrel aging programs. We’ll have the opportunity to stretch the brewing wings and showcase a wider variety of what we can really do. The taproom will be a true ‘Home of the Wolf’, where we hope punters feel they can come enjoy a beer in an atmosphere that welcomes them in as part of the Wolf family, and truly reflects what we are about” says Scotty McKinnon, founder and head brewer for Wolf of the Willows.
“We’re so excited to become an integral part of Mordialloc and look forward to working with like-minded people and business’ in the local community. ” says Renae McKinnon, co-founder of Wolf of the Willows.
Wolf of the Willows first landed on the brewing scene in 2014, first releasing their XPA. Since that point they have purely focused on the wholesale market, producing distinct and well-loved beers all over Australia.
In 2015, Wolf of the Willows secured brewery space with Cheltenham brewpub Bad Shepherd. The 50 percent brewery ownership gave them the opportunity to keep growing steadily, experiment with different styles and build on collaborative partnerships with the likes of Lark Distillery, Patient Wolf Gin, Tromba Tequlia, and many more. Having hit capacity mid 2018, the look out for their own operations and onsite taproom became vital.
They’re proud to join the likes of Boatrocker, 2 Brothers, Mr Banks, Dainton, Bad Shepherd, and soon to be Stomping Ground, to make the South East region of Melbourne a true craft beer destination.
