Young Henrys Adelaide edges closer

Sydney brewer Young Henrys has passed the first major hurdle in its bid to open a third brewing facility, this time in Adelaide.

Young Henrys’ development application for the Manton Street, Hindmarsh site was approved on Wednesday May 6, according to council documents.

The documents state the Hindmarsh facility will comprise a 20 hectolitre brewhouse and production rates are likely to be an average of 1725 litres per day.

“The brewery will provide employment for 15-16 staff and the tasting bar will have a capacity of 150 persons,” the documents say.

“There is no kitchen proposed as part of the application however food vans may park inside the building on Friday and Saturday nights.”

The successful DA clears the way for Young Henrys to apply to the state government for a producer’s liquor licence.

Founded in Newtown in 2012, Young Henrys late last year opened a West Australian facility, YH Beer Farm in Metricup, Margaret River.

Co-founder Richard Adamson said it was not appropriate to comment on the Adelaide venture at this time.
