BentSpoke Brewing Co’s is kicking off it’s CAN-paign to be in the running to be voted Australia’s Favourite Craft Beer for the third year in a row.
Local Canberra Co-owners Richard Watkins and Tracy Margrain are calling on all Canberrans to support local, independent brewing, and vote for BentSpoke as the world largest beer poll kicks off on Wednesday 7th of December.
GABS is the world’s largest craft beer poll voted on by the people who drink and love craft beer. Votes are received from over 40,000 craft beer lovers around the country. The countdown of the results is watched by 10’s of 1000’s of people in pubs, breweries and bars around the country on January 28th (*on the same day as the Triple J Hottest 100 Music Poll)
BentSpoke Crankshaft IPA has finished on the podium for the last 5 years, culminating in back to back wins in 2020 and 2021. In 2021 BentSpoke had 4 other beers in the top 100; Barley Griffin Canberra Pale Ale, Cluster 8, Sprocket and Red Nut.
11 Canberra brewed beers made it in the top 100 in 2021, making Canberra the home of Craft Brewing in Australia.
This year, BentSpoke are campaigning in true Canberra style, launching a faux-political CAN-paign as a nod to being “Canberra Born and Brewed”. Co-Founders Richard Watkins and Tracy Margrain are excited to be headed back to the polls and showing Australia that Canberra isn’t just a political hub, but a creative, innovation hub for independent local businesses.
“We’re so grateful that the people of Canberra have supported and backed us from day one, helping grow a local Canberra business. A podium placing in the poll can make a huge difference to the ongoing success of the company and really shines a spotlight on Canberra beer. We’re thankful for everyone who gets behind their local brewery and loves Crankshaft as much as we do”
Richard Watkins, BentSpoke Co-founder and Head Brewer
BentSpoke Brewing Co. is the brainchild of Co-Founders and Head Brewers Richard Watkins and Tracy Margrain who opened the BentSpoke BrewPub in 2014 to overwhelming support from the local Canberra community. It was then in 2016 that they opened a production brewery in Mitchell ACT to can their beers, which are now available nationwide.
On Saturday December 10th BentSpoke will open its doors of The Cannery at Mitchell for an Open Day so you can see Crankshaft come straight off the line of BentSpoke’s state of the art production facility and through the afternoon celebrate SOS (Start of Summer) event featuring, great beer, local food and great local bands.
