Burleigh Brewing to award $5,000 at artist event

Burleigh Brewing will award a total prize pool of $5,000 at the Brewing Local Artist event this weekend, a free art exhibition featuring 16 talented local artists on Saturday 16th of November from 3:00pm at the Burleigh Taphouse.

On the day, each artist will share a bit about themselves, their unique art and what their dreams are for furthering their passion and sharing it with others.

Those who attend the family friendly free event will be given a voting card to choose their favourite artist on the day for the $2,000 People’s Choice Award and in addition, Burleigh have invited four renowned Gold Coast Arts representatives to judge the $3,000 Judges Choice Award.

Both Brewing Local Artist awards will progress the future of two emerging local artist and give them an opportunity they desire, be it funds to create a solo showcase, travel to Mona, invest in new art supplies or even contribute to an art education.

Burleigh Brewing CEO Peta Fielding said the Brewing Local Artist event was created in 2016 to give back to the community and offer a local talent an opportunity to change one’s life and progress an art dream.

`We work hard to create our own masterpieces every day. We know what’s it like to pour your heart into something. Something that truly deserves to be shared with others, only to find some pretty massive brick walls standing in the way. And that’s part of the inspiration for Brewing Local Artists.’

`This event is one small way through which we can help to shine a light on some of the broad creative talent that is right here on the Gold Coast, and provide an opportunity for it to be celebrated, discovered and shared. We want to make a genuine difference,’ said Fielding.

With an impressive brewery backdrop, The Brewing Local Artist event will be a community celebration of art, local talent, live art, live music, great Burleigh Eats by the Oak food and of course Burleigh World Class beer.
The two winners for each Brewing Local Artist award will be announced 7:30pm on Saturday 16th of November and will both receive the celebrated Burleigh Golden Growler Trophy to be filled with their favourite Burleigh brew.
