Colonial Brewing Co begins major production facility expansions.

We asked ourselves, what do the people want? And the answer was definitive: more beer. So more beer it is.

Colonial Brewing Co are excited to expand the production capacity at both Margaret River and Port Melbourne breweries to meet consumer demands. Over the next year the breweries will be equipped to upgrade the capacity to an initial 4-million litres per year, with room to expand further to 6 million liters in the near future.

With upgrades starting immediately, Port Melbourne will be the first brewery to receive 100hL and 200hL vessels with fermentation tanks arriving in 3 stages beginning this spring, with completion projected for winter 2019.

Working with German based company BrauKon, a custom designed 4 vessel, 50hL brewhouse will give Colonial the ability to brew far more beer, with even greater quality control.

Nothing has been spared in the facility upgrade, with a focus on acquiring the latest technology including a vapour condenser and internal boiler, both designed for improved energy efficiency. BrauKon’s automation will help attain strong consistency but the brewers will continue to remain hands-on to ensure there is direct management of the ingredients and process. It’s the best of both worlds really.

Margaret River Brewery won’t be missing out either. New structures will be built on the property to make room for additional fermentation space which will double the production volume for thirsty folks in the West.

CBCo has grown from 8 accounts per week in 2015 to servicing major chains, over 1,500 independent bottle shops and more than 200 on premise customers nationally.
