Craft beer fans will learn how to ferment native ingredients in beer as part of the upcoming Backyard Invitational masterclasses, hosted by craft beer writer and podcaster Luke Robertson from Ale of a Time.
Stone & Wood’s Backyard Invitational Gold Coast invites over 20 independent breweries, distilleries and providores to share their products and connect with drinkers, with intimate tasting stands, industry talks and masterclasses.
As part of the masterclass series, Luke will demonstrate using native ingredients and talk about how honey and fruits are used in beer and spirits, leaving attendees with a take-home sample.
The following two masterclasses will feature speakers from the attending breweries and distilleries, who’ll together discuss sour beers and dark beers and their current popularity.
Complementing the beer, gin and kombucha tastings will be food truck Pequeña Cocina and JR Smokehouse, plus live vinyl DJ sets from Huggy Per and Acid Joe.
Spread across two sessions (12–3.30pm; 4.30–8pm), tickets to the Backyard Invitational Gold Coast include entry to the festival, all beer, access to talks and masterclasses, a take-home beer cup and a $5 food truck voucher.
Profits from the Backyard Invitational will be directed via Stone & Wood’s national not-for-profit, the inGrained Foundation, to Orange Sky Gold Coast.
Tickets for the Backyard Invitational Gold Coast are $60 each plus booking fee, available now for purchase at www.stoneandwood.com.au.
