Stone & Wood announces return of Big Scrub

Big Scrub

We’re stoked to announce that Big Scrub, our refreshing new-age lager, is back! Only brewed from time to time but a part of the Beers From our Backyard range, Big Scrub will be available across the country from Tuesday 3 October.

With only 1% left of the largest sub-tropical rainforest on the East coast, the remnants of Big Scrub serve as a reminder to preserve the natural beauty of our backyard.

TASTING NOTES
Balancing a subtle malt foundation with a firm bitterness and dry finish, Big Scrub is different to traditional lagers by being dry hopped with new world hops. It pours golden with a slight haze from extended cold maturation and no filtration (5 weeks). It has floral aromatics and spicy herbal nuances, making it refreshing, with a moreish finish.

Alc Vol – 5.4%

PROTECTING OUR LOCAL RAINFOREST
We are lucky to live in one of the greatest places on Earth, with an incredible hinterland that needs to be protected and appreciated. Big Scrub is our local rainforest, that once covered 75,000ha prior to European settlement. It was the largest area of subtropical rainforest on the East Coast of Australia, and is an important part of Australia’s rich biodiversity heritage.

We are conscious of treading lightly on earth and are inspired by the incredible regeneration and restoration work of our local community, work that has helped regenerate this natural area. Leading the charge is Big Scrub Landcare, a not-for-profit we continue to support, who are not only raising awareness but are also actively working to preserve our hinterland.

If you’re keen to try it, jump on our Beer Finder to find out where, or otherwise jump on our Online Store to purchase a carton.

WE INVITE YOU….
FACEBOOK LIVE
We will be jumping on Facebook Live next Tuesday arvo (keep an eye on our socials for exact time) with our Head Brewer Caolan and Big Scrub Landcare Ambassador Eddie Brook, to talk about our limited release, our rainforest and the regeneration works in the local area. We would love for you to jump on and contribute to the conversation.

TAP TAKEOVERS & LAGER MASTERCLASSES
To support the release, our crew will be doing tap takeovers across the country profiling our Beers from our Backyard range, along with a series of Lager Masterclasses…. IPA’s may be on trend but let us show you the complexity, nuanced flavours and underappreciated value behind a beer style that doesn’t hide mistakes or imbalances… We will be rolling out Lager Masterclasses in each state across the country (more details to be announced).
