In what was TWØBAYS biggest launch since its very first beer in 2018, the Victorian brewery has released a new brand that offers another alternative for the consumer looking for an easy drinking gluten free beer. And the first release of GFB Draught (4.2% abv) sold out online in 24 hours.
Brewed in its dedicated gluten free brewery on the Mornington Peninsula, the first beer under the new GFB brand is a full-strength Draught. It’s clean, crisp and refreshing, and it’s endorsed by Coeliac Australia.
“GFB is designed to have that classic Aussie beer taste,” said TWØBAYS CEO and Founder Richard Jeffares.
“We believe in beer choice for everyone. It’s why we were so excited to launch this new gluten free beer brand.”
Until this point, TWØBAYS has been solely focused on pushing the boundaries of craft beer so that gluten free consumers could enjoy the full craft beer experience like anybody else. And while TWØBAYS craft beer is brewed using millet, buckwheat and rice malts, GFB uses sorghum and rice malts to create that easy-drinking flavour profile.
“We know that a large community of Aussies love exploring the world of gluten free craft beer,” said Jeffares.
“And we’re going to continue on that brewing journey. But we’ve also had feedback that people just want a gluten free version of an easy-drinking, classic Aussie beer taste too.
“TWØBAYS is 4-packs and cartons of 16, but GFB is 6-packs and slabs of 24. It’s what we’ve been asked for!”
“For people like me, who avoid gluten, this presents another opportunity to enjoy a beer like everyone else; whether at home, watching the footy, or at a barbecue with friends and family. Nobody should have to miss out on the experience of sharing a beer with family or friends.
“With GFB, we’re paying homage to a classic Aussie taste. And after being diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in 2015, I for one am very excited to have that beer back in my fridge.”
While the TWØBAYS sales team works to get the next batch of GFB Draught into bottle shops and venues (as they open up) across the country, for now the second batch is available for pre-order on TWØBAYS website in 24x 375ml-can slabs.
“We knew this would be a popular move, but we did not expect to sell out online in 24 hours,” said Jeffares.
“GFB is not the same as our craft range. It’s a classic, easy-drinking Aussie-style Draught beer. And while we’re not deviating from the craft beer offering with that range, it’s great to have put another option into the gluten free market. Everyone has a different taste and everyone deserves to be able to drink great beer, whether at home, with friends, or with a meal at the pub.”
