Capital starts brewing in Canberra

Formed in April 2016 as a partnership between Canberra hospitality professionals Kain and Tom Hertel, and Batlow Cider founders Rich and Sam Coombes, Capital has until now been gypsy brewing at several Sydney facilities.
Capital plans to use grain from Canberra Region growers in its beer, in addition to hops supplied by nearby Batlow Fruit Co-operative, which is three years into ahop growing trial.
The debut house-brewed beer is Trail Pale Ale, one of 12 beers that will be available on tap in the venue.
Capital also announced that local food truck Brodburger will be taking up residency in the taproom when it opens on September 9.
The company now boasts more than 450 accounts across the eastern seaboard and its20,000L brewery is already at full capacity.
An additional 20,000L of fermentation tanks are due to be commissioned next month.
The taproom features a 12-tap bar on the brewery floor amongst towering stainless steel fermenters, a 600 person beer garden complete with brewery games and a stage, and an internal courtyard complete with kids cubby house.
Brewery openings are presented by Spark Breweries and Distilleries, the finest in-venue and production brewing systems available, with local design and support.
