Three-way Metalhead
Richmond craft beer institution, The Royston Hotel, will be re-introducing their meet-the-brewer night this Wednesday, September 5th, with a unique trifecta from Southern Bay Brewing Company.
Southern Bay’s Metalhead Robust Porter will be served three ways and in three different versions:
- Metalhead standard edition from the bottle
- coffee infused Metalhead on tap
- a dry-hopped version of Metalhead will be served on the traditional English hand-pump
Punters will have a chance to get their hands on a pot of each version during the event for $15.
Steven Germain from Southern Bay told Australian Brews News that they will be using Ethiopian Guji coffee beans from Coffee Cartel Roasters for the coffee infused Metalhead.
“The Guji beans are meant to add lemony and blueberry fruity coffee with complex and layered structure, almost buttery. ”
The third version has been dry-hopped on whole-cone Topaz and has also been prepared for low-carbonation pouring from the hand-pump.
“The dry-hopped Topaz version will likely have some lychee characters going on. It should be a pretty interesting evening of beers.”
Head brewer, Steve “Hendo” Henderson will be present to talk guests through the line-up of seasonal winter beers. Hendo will also be handing out score cards allowing participants to rate the beers and win prizes.
The Royston Hotel will be continuing with a new set of meet-the-brewer nights happening on a monthly basis.
